Studio Principles - Johannah Bradley

Empowerment - The foundation of our studio is empowerment; this can take many forms. My personal experience in Yoga is that the physiological benefits of mindful movement and breathing helped empower me to come back to myself in dealing with trauma, depression and anxiety. I opened MPower Yoga in an effort to share these aspects of movement practice with others. Our classes are focused on building physical and emotional power from within.

Inclusivity - MPower is a place for everyone. All ages, races, gender identifications, body sizes and physical ability levels can benefit from empowering movement in a safe environment. We are here to support every individual in their journey. We also want to make sure that finances are not a boundary to empowerment and access to classes. We have scholarship and community outreach programs available to make sure everyone has access. Simply contact me at johannah@mpoweryoga.net for information or consideration for these programs.

Cultural Appreciation - Yoga is an ancient, broad and varied practice originating in India. ‘Asana’ or physical practice is a very small part of the overall Yoga philosophy. As a white-bodied woman running a Yoga studio I am working on continuous learning and appreciation of the cultural roots of Yoga. I have a deep calling to share the healing tools of purposeful movement and breath, as I have learned them, with others who can benefit. Our studio and staff are focused on continuous learning, appreciation and sharing that which we have experienced to be useful to empowerment.

Safety - Empowerment is only possible through safe and purposeful practice. MPower physical practice is highly focused on keeping the body safe. Teachers are well trained in anatomy and physiology to help ensure that our practices work with the body in a safe and purposeful way. We encourage all students to work within their physical abilities at that moment and listen to their bodies.

Intention - The act of setting intention at the start of physical practice as well as in our daily lives is a key aspect to our studio principles; helping to focus the mind, stabilize the nervous system and build a life with purpose.

Humor and Joy - Finding joy and humor and not taking ourselves too seriously is important to our studio principles. laughter and joy are healing and empowering. We want to enjoy life, enjoy practice and enjoy learning and growing.
